About the Role


Position Summary:

The Business Support Coordinator supports the NA Sales Team in the management of selected Flavor Division accounts to ensure customer needs are met, Symrise/customer relationship is optimized and growth strategies are achieved. Functions as the Account Manager internally and engages and manages customer relationships externally as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Account Coordination and Support

  • Supports Multi-national Account Directors (GADS / RAMS) and National Account Managers in the management of selected Symrise Accounts in North America. Account Management includes all aspects of Sales and Sales Support including support and assistance of Core Supplier programs, project and sample coordination, document requests, pricing assistance, presentation assistance and other customer requests.
  • Responsible for the collection and distribution of all data required by selected customers, i.e., Specs, Kosher MSDS, Allergen, Nutritional, etc. and interacts with all departments on critical documentation issues and manages document timelines.
  • Assists with pricing requests, initiatives and negotiations for selected Accounts. (c/p pricing, expired pricing extensions, fiscal year spreadsheet SAP load)
  • Assists Account Manager in coordinating Core Supplier Programs to ensure a proper response is developed and presented to the customer in accordance with timelines and requirements.
  • Assists Account Managers in coordinating and developing customer presentations for selected Accounts.
  • Fields “off the street calls” and determines management of these inquiries.(D&B’s vender set up packets, align hierarchies)
  • Assists Account Manager in coordinating / updating NBAs and projects dropped by cleaning.
  • Visits customers with and on behalf of the Account Manager. Facilitate in house customer visits.
  • Maintains select Account contact lists and coordinates communication with these customers as necessary.
  • Engages in development of Key Account Plans for selected Accounts.
  • Functions as the account manager internally on selected Accounts.

B. Project Coordination for Key Projects:

  • Supports execution of flavor briefs which includes managing project timelines, coordinating project meetings, debriefing projects and closing projects and involvement in project tastings as required.
  • Attends morning Project Meeting and BU internal meetings weekly.
  • Assists Account Manager in maintaining PACE database for projects for selected accounts.
  • Communicates regularly with sales, Flavorists, BUs (Application and Category Leaders), QC and Regulatory functions on behalf of the Account Manager throughout project lifecycle.
  • Ensures all timelines are met for projects. In conjunction with Account Managers, manages project from inception to close of sale. Ensures customers project requirements are current and updated in PACE and does Project Pre-Check before project meeting.

C. Account Management:

  • Manages identified segments of selected Accounts in North America including management of House Accounts.
  • Enters budget and reviews forecast of all house accounts. (including Consumer Health house)
  • Reviews and updates pricing for all house accounts. (including Consumer Health house)

D. Special Projects:

  • Supports the Manager of Business Support and VP / Director of Sales as needed and participates in any special projects as requested by the Division.

This is a hybrid role that will work 3-4 days on site at the Teterboro office and 1-2 days remotely. May have to work fully on site for the first month or so for training but will follow the hybrid schedule thereafter.


About You


Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED required. College is strongly preferred.
  • Requires industry experience of 3 to 5 years in a sales support role / sales environment.
  • Technical knowledge of the Flavor or Food Industry is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Forward thinker with the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise and handle potential customer situations with poise and good judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail are essential
  • Willingness and ability to learn and work within different systems is needed for success in this role.
  • Ability to fill in for the Account Manager with our external customers as needed
  • Must be comfortable working with numbers and have the ability to calculate and provide pricing to customers
  • PC proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as SAP, PACE, Salesforce, or other similar applications
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers on a daily basis both in person, via phone and electronically.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of departments and management levels, including international communications.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, pro-active thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of leadership, teamwork and project management skills is required.
  • Ability to quickly obtain proficiency in the use of PACE, the Symrise tool for processing, monitoring and tracking the project / sample process until completion.
  • Ability to quickly obtain proficiency in the use of SPS/Lotus Notes, the Symrise tool for the processing, recording, monitoring and tracking of price requests
  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in additional languages is preferred.
